Parent & Child Classes

We offer Parent & Child classes from birth to 3 years old which are intended to educate parents on the development of their children, support them in their philosophy of parenting, as well as strive to better the parent-child bond and relationship. We do this through getting to know each other as individuals and families with unique values and life experiences. We offer a class rhythm which provides time for sharing of our individual relationship with our child and ourselves, offer time for discussion and parent education and introduce songs, movement and stories appropriate for the age group. We also provide plenty of time for a self-initiated movement for the children.

Quiet parent observation of their children provides caregivers insight into child development and an understanding of how to best support their child’s unfolding abilities. These are the ingredients for a lifelong love of learning and provide the foundation that every young child needs for self-confidence, resilience, and future academic excellence. We also provide weekly readings for discussion on child development so adults may gain a greater awareness and trust in their children’s growing interests, motor abilities, social interactions and problem-solving skills. Their trust strengthens their child’s emerging self-confidence and feeds their growing interests in exploring their world.

This class is for Parents and/or Caregivers and their young babies from birth to eight months old. We may also include slightly older children in this class depending on enrollment.
Our Parent Infant Class offers parents and caregivers time with their babies where they can simply be and grow together in deeper relationship without the intrusion of daily life and the outside world. Make new friends and enjoy the comfort of our quiet and nurturing class setting where we offer support to parents and caregivers in this very important work of parenting. You will spend time observing your babies in their development as they grow and change before your eyes, strengthening their bodies and exploring the world around them. The foundation for your child’s development will be explored through the work of renowned pediatrician Emmi Pikler. Her work, as referenced in a Waldorf article, “is a living proof of how an attachment relationship formed on the basis of highly evolved human interaction can help children grow up emotionally and physically healthy”.
We will build a community of trust and sharing where we hold reverence for the unique parenting styles of each individual and support all in their further development of their parenting intuition. We will make time for sharing the joys and trials of parenting newborns! We will learn songs, rhymes, and fingerplays in class to then enjoy at home. Parents will strengthen their ability to observe and interpret their baby’s movements and communication as well as have time to nourish themselves and learn to trust their parenting intentions. Come and join us as we grow together in thoughtful and joyful parenting.
